The ICCJ’s International Abrahamic Forum jointly with the German Abrahamic Forum invites you to join them in a special trilateral program entitled:
“Religions and Diversity – Social, Political and Biological Aspects”
This program will feature interfaith practitioners and academicians from around the world and is being held in Bonn, Germany, immediately following the 2017 ICCJ Conference, on Thursday, July 6, at the “Gustav Stresemann Institut” in Bonn. The special focus of the IAF conference is to introduce trilateral — in other words Jewish-Christian-Muslim — dimensions into some of the pressing issues in Germany, Europe and the wider world. Issues such as religious diversity and pluralism will be given particular attention in light of recent events such as BREXIT and the election of Donald Trump in the US. The issue of recent Middle Eastern immigration and the refugee crisis to Europe has brought this topic in to sharp focus.
On Thursday evening a special evening session is planned to take place at the University of Bonn in which Jews, Christians and Muslims will address together the topic “Meanings and Challenges of the Abrahamic Heritage”.
The International Abrahamic Forum is an expression of the ICCJ's renewed commitment to the Jewish-Christian-Muslim dialogue. Led by a Steering Committee representing the three faith traditions, the IAF is dedicated to overcoming fears and prejudices and to promoting dialogue, tolerance and respect between the Abrahamic religions.
The conference will also host the “Mediterranean Abrahamic Teams”, a group of special guests from Egypt, Israel, Morocco, and Tunisia. They will share with us their experiences of interreligious dialogue and educational projects in their home countries.
Among the presenters and speakers at the conference there will be the two IAF Co-Chairs Rabbi Ehud Bandel (Jerusalem Israel) and Dr. Mustafa Baig (Exeter UK), members of the IAF Steering Committee Prof. Reuven Firestone (LA USA), Prof. Heidi Hadsell (Hartford USA), Dr. Amineh Hoti (Lahore Pakistan), and Prof. Frederek Musall (Heidelberg Germany), Dr. Jürgen Micksch (Darmstadt Germany), Prof. Andreas Pangritz (Bonn Germany).
Participation in this program is free of charge but registration in advance is mandatory. Registration requests should be sent to the ICCJ office at office@iccj.org.
For participants in the ICCJ 2017 Conference (July 2 – 5) who would like to stay for the IAF program as well, a limited number of rooms is available at the “Gustav Stresemann Institut” allowing an extension of the stay in the conference venue till Friday, July 7; other participants in the IAF program are kindly asked to book rooms in hotels in Bonn, if needed.
The IAF program will start on Thursday, July 6, at 9:30 am and will end with dinner at 6 pm; the public evening session at the University of Bonn is planned to start at 8 pm.
A detailed program schedule will be published in due time.
