Murray Watson is a 44-year-old Catholic Biblical scholar from Ontario, Canada, who has been involved in Jewish-Christian dialogue for more than 15 years.
After his studies in French and theology, Murray has spent the last 18 years in pastoral and educational work, in Canada and abroad. He received a Licentiate in Sacred Scripture from the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome in 2002, and worked closely with the Sisters of Sion in Rome as a volunteer at their SIDIC Centre. After studies at Jerusalem's École Biblique, Murray pursued doctoral studies at Trinity College, Dublin, where he received his Ph.D. in 2010 for a thesis on the work of the Jewish interfaith pioneer and Biblical translator André Chouraqui. Murray works for part of each year in Jerusalem, leading two Biblical studies programs under the auspices of the Sisters of Sion.
He is honored and thrilled to have the opportunity to serve as the ICCJ's new Communications Officer, and to work to share the message of the ICCJ's mission and activities with a broader audience, especially with a younger generation who are energetic users of the modern social media.
Murray looks forward to working hand-in-hand with the ICCJ Executive Board and General Secretary and to fostering ICCJ’s contact to and communication with our member organizations all over the world.
