This joint visit sends an inspiring message of hope to all peoples of the region and provides strong encouragement for the vision of peace and reconciliation between the three Abrahamic religions.
While this Papal visit is a religious and not a political one, we are convinced that it can contribute significantly to the political challenges of the region since interfaith understanding is an essential component of peace building, particularly in the Middle East.
We join our brothers and sisters in Jordan, Israel and the Palestinian territories in their warm welcome to Pope Francis and his delegation and pray for a successful and constructive visit.
