Regional conferences
Since the publication in 2009 of “A Time for Recommitment” and “The Twelve Points of Berlin” regional conferences in several parts of the world have taken place to renew our commitment to dialogue. In 2012 regional conferences are planned in Israel and New Zealand/Australia. The Hebrew translation of “A Time for Recommitment” is already available on this website. On the occasion of the publication of a Swedish translation, a follow up of the 2010 Sigtuna conference is scheduled.
Educational tool
An educational guide on the first four of the twelve Berlin points already has been uploaded on www.iccj.org. Click the “Berlin doc.” tab in our main menu. The material to discuss the remaining eight Berlin points will be online soon. A unique tool for local branches of ICCJ members, for schools and universities, synagogues and churches will be available in 2012.
Manchester conference
On Sunday July 1 the annual ICCJ international conference will be opened in Manchester. This year the main ICCJ conference is organized in cooperation with the Institute for Jewish studies of Manchester University, the Council of Christians and Jews in the United Kingdom and its local Manchester branch. Theme of the meeting: “New neighbors, new opportunities, Multiculturalism and social responsibility”. ICCJ is proud to welcome Chief Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks as key note speaker on the first full conference day. Registration for the conference will possible as from March 1. The conference fee amounts to € 250.
International Abrahamic Forum and Young Leadership Council
The renewed ICCJ International Abrahamic Forum held its first meeting in December 2011 in Heppenheim. A second meeting is scheduled for the days preceding the Manchester conference. Members of the Abrahamic Forum will play an important role during the main Manchester conference. So will members of the ICCJ Young Leadership Council. The generation of young interfaith leaders will, as in Cracow, be very visible in Manchester and actively engaged in moderating and presenting during conference workshops.
Regional outreach
For Heppenheim and the Bergstraße region the local ICCJ activities in the Martin Buber House make the importance of our work. During the meeting of the ICCJ Executive Board the Prime Minister of the federal state of Hesse will visit the Martin Buber House on Tuesday February 7. Mr. Volker Bouffier will of course meet with ICCJ Board members. For the general public a meeting with the Prime Minister in the historic Heppenheim Kurfürstensaal is planned.
All this only is part of the 2012 ICCJ dialogue work. We will keep you posted in all twelve months to come!
