During his recent visit to Buenos Aires ICCJ General Secretary Rev. Dick Pruiksma met with representatives of many institutions active in dialogue in the federal capital of Argentina.
Churches vandalized in Argentina
On September 25 the Church of St. Ignatius of Loyola in the Buenos Aires community Montserrat was vandalized. On September 27 the Methodist Church of Rosario was set on fire.
Montevideo visit
Montevideo – During his trip to Buenos Aires, preparing the 2014 ICCJ conference, General Secretary Dick Pruiksma spends the weekend visiting our active Uruguyan member in Montevideo.
Rabbi Skorka 2014 Conference Chair
Rabbi Abraham Skorka, Rector of the Seminario Rabinico Latinoamericano in Buenos Aires, will chair the 2014 ICCJ Planning Committee. With this good news the Jewish year 5774 started!
OJEC calls for tolerance and solidarity
The Council of Jews and Christians in the Netherlands (OJEC) states in a letter to the participating religious organizations that the Coptic churches deserve the moral and financial support of the churches in the Netherlands.

Dear Friends: I hope that all of you in the Northern Hemisphere have had a pleasant summer, and in the Southern Hemisphere, a pleasant winter. In 2014, with our annual international conference planned for Buenos Aires, we will all experience winter in August. But I have been to Argentina in August before, and it’s really quite mild.

Dialogue is vital, no matter how painful
ICCJ Board member Revd David Gifford responds to a book written by Dr. Mark Braverman, in which Braverman argues that Christians involved in dialogue with Jews, on the Palestine issue, have sold out to an agenda of injustice. Gifford states that dialogue, however painful it may be, remains the way to go. Here is Gifford’s letter to the Huffington Post.
Abrahamic Forum Statement and Texts Online now
Last month the International Abrahamic Forum held its first public conference on "Combatting our Teachings of Contempt: Jewish, Christian and Muslim Introspection and Projection" in Aix-en-Provence. The statement produced and the texts from the keynotes and workshops are available online now.

Dialogue in Sao Paulo, Brazil
After two thousand troubled years, the last fifty years were a time of rapprochement between Christians and Jews. Today we cultivate a relationship of friendship and respect, said Rabbi Michel Schlesinger. Hatred and contempt must be overcome. The work continues, but we have made great progress, Sao Paulo Cardinal Dom Odilo Scherer added.
