Happy Pessach and Easter
I am writing this today from sunny Jerusalem. President Obama arrived a few hours ago. Many of the streets have been closed, which doesn’t do a lot to endear him to the pre-Pesach shoppers, taxi drivers and so on. But we do wish him well and hope that his visit will bear some fruit in terms of re-starting the more or less moribund peace process between Israel and the Palestinians.

Der ICCJ Vorstand traf sich vom 11. bis 15. Februar in London. Nach einem Arbeitstreffen am Dienstag, 12. Februar, beriet sich der Vorstand zweieinhalb Tage lang, um die Stellung des ICCJ zu der Israel/Palästina-Frage, wie sie im Berliner Dokument von 2009 niedergeschrieben worden war, zu erneuern.

Buber Agassis Buch in hebräischer Sprache erschienen
Dank des unermüdlichen Einsatzes des Heppenheimer Einwohners Karl Netzer konnte eine hebräische Übersetzung von Judith Buber Agassis Buch "Jewish Woman Prisoners of Ravensbrück" heute im Martin-Buber-Haus in Heppenheim der Presse vorgestellt werden. Pfarrer Dick Pruiksma, Generalsekretär des Internationalen Rates der Christen und Juden, nahm das Buch dankbar entgegen. Der ICCJ hat seinen Sitz im Hause von Judith's Großvater Martin Buber, in dem sie auch geboren wurde.

November forderte Marton Gyöngyösi, Abgeordneter der rechtsradikalen Jobbik-Partei, im ungarischen Parlament, alle Juden zu erfassen, die als Abgeordnete im Parlament sitzen oder der Regierung angehören. Juden als Staatsbürger Israels seien ein „Risiko für die nationale Sicherheit“.
Sao Paulo CCJ 50 years
In September 1962, Father Calixto Vendram (catholic priest), Hella Moritz (Jewish Community) and Sister Alda (Sisters of Our Lady of Sion), founded the Council of Jewish-Christian Fraternity. So this year we are celebrating its Golden Jubilee!

Statement on situation Hungary
A delegation of the International Council of Christians and Jews arrived in Budapest to examine the situation of antisemitism in Hungary just two days after Marton Gyöngyösi, deputy of the Hungarian right-wing Jobbik party, delivered a hate speech in the Hungarian Parliament in which he called for making lists of Hungarian Jews who pose a "risk to national security".
